The Sun 9-6-08 16.14 UT

Managed to pick up the new active region that has appeared as an area of plage brightness on the NE limb together with todays proms to the east and north. Had some strange moire banding effects appearing on the close ups which may be due to some thin cloud crossing, dirt on the eyepiece, or a poorly aligned camera against the eyepiece - not sure what causes it!

You can clearly see the new active region brightening at the bottom of the limb in this shot. Very clear prom detail too! Also the faint banding on the suns surface from the moire effect.

The Sun 8-6-08 7.50UT and 14.18UT

Really hot and clear this morning. The same general prom groups that were visible yesterday are still there on the south and east limbs. The east prom, although large, seems to be fading now and may not last the day out. No surface activity.

An update at 14.18 UT. This is the prom that was at the top (south) in my first disk shot above, now on the east limb it has changed quite a bit and grown in size.

The big prom from this morning has now decreased in size but is still quite active...........

The Sun 7-6-08 9.38UT

A fine collection of prominences on the east and south limbs this morning. No visible action on the surface which remains quiet.

The Sun 5-6-08 18.10 UT

Atmospheric seeing was quite poor today despite some clear spells. Main proms are on the north and north east limbs. There is a small active region developing which cannot be seen easily with the PST's resolution and it does not appear in the photos.

The Sun 4-6-08 6.51 UT

At 7.51 am GMT the disk looked quite quiet today although a large arch prom later developed from 8am onward and was still visible at 4pm. I only had a chance to get this quick disk shot at 6.51 UT before all the main action started.

The Sun 31-5-08 11.00 UT

Main prom with the adjacent filament is still visible today on the NW limb. On the NE limb a multiple arched prom has developed. Some smaller proms on the SW and SE limbs. Surface activity very low.

The Sun 30-5-08 18.45 UT

Awful seeing through haze today but a few proms are evident with a nice filament approaching the west limb and turning into a 'filaprom'. Surface activity is very low. Main prom in the west near the filament with smaller proms on the north and south limbs.
